GRECO´S NEW KILN BURNER - CEMENTOS LEMONA

On June 2011, it was successfully started up a new 45 MW FLEXIFLAME kiln burner on 2.250 tpd kiln at Lemona Industrial, S.A., in Spain.

The new multifuel kiln burner was tailor-made designed for:

  • Pulverized petcoke – up to 100% of burner thermal power;
  • Two types of solid alternative fuels (initially RDF and MBM) – up to 70% of burner thermal power;
  • Two liquid fuel lances (fuel oil or liquid alternative fuels) – up to 100% of burner thermal power.

The goals of burner replacement were:

  • Increased alternative fuel participation in the fuel mix;
  • Achieve a better kiln operation reducing the recurrent rings formation;

With the new FLEXIFLAMETM kiln burner, specifically designed for alternative fuels, both goals were achieved just after start-up. Other benefits from new burner were wide range of flame shaping and controlled NOx emissions.

The FLEXIFLAMETM kiln burner and some burner accessories were manufactured in GRECO workshop in Austria, as part of our increased quality control standards. As part of the delivery, the engineering for a burner trolley modification was included to align the new burner well to the kiln.

GRECO´S TURN-KEY JOB AT CEMENTOS ALFA

In August 2011, GRECO finished the successfully the turn-key job for a new kiln burner installation, with a new 52MW FLEXIFLAMETM kiln burner on 2.500 tpd kiln at Cementos Alfa, S.A. in Spain. The static civil engineering, new trolley beam and rail construction and a new burner trolley were includes in the contract.

The new multifuel kiln burner was tailor-made designed for:

  • Pulverized petcoke – up to 100% of burner thermal power;
  • Two types of solid alternative fuels (initially sewage sludge and RDF) – up to 75% of burner thermal power;
  • Two liquid fuel lances (fuel oil or liquid alternative fuels) – up to 100% of burner thermal power.

The goal of burner replacement was to increase alternative fuel participation in the fuel mix to save fuel costs. With the new FLEXIFLAMETM kiln burner, specifically designed for alternative fuels, the goal was achieved just after short start-up period. Other benefits from new burner were wide range of flame shaping and controlled low NOx emissions. The burner was manufactured in GRECO workshop in Austria, as part of our increased quality control standards.
